Just Eat Real Food :)
Nutrition , Nutrition, Nutrition. One of my favorite topics, and for many reasons. Nutrition seems to be right up there with politics and religion. We have the vegans fighting with the paleo people. The paleo people fighting with the Weston A. Price people. Atkins this, fruitarian that, “I eat bacon so I must be keto”. Blah, Blah, Blah! Just like exercise, with nutrition we must consider biochemical individuality. There is no one approach that works for every one.
So where do we start? In the absence of laboratory testing we can start with eating real food. What does that mean? It means if it has an ingredient list, lasts more than a week on the shelf (not including fermented food) , has colors and numbers, and/or ingredients that you cannot pronounce, it is NOT real food.
Real Foods are what you will find when you shop the perimeter of the grocery store; the meats, fish, vegetables, and fruits. Goldfish, cereals, pop tarts, Ellios pizza, Oreo cookies, peanut butter cups, these are NOT real food.
These foods last forever and have ingredients in them that are hard to pronounce. These are the foods that companies want your kids to eat so they become addicted and become customers for life. Don’t support this type of crap. Your money is energy. Spend your money on the best quality food possible.
Please remember non organic produce is sprayed heavily with pesticides, herbicides, and rodenticides (rat poisoning) and this stuff does not just wash off. It penetrates the skin and gets to the core of the plant. So would you rather be eating the food with or with out the rat poisoning?
I would prefer to avoid as many toxins as possible so I eat organic whenever possible and you should do the same. There are many things outside the scope of this brief article that need to be considered on an individualized basis. If any of you reading are interested in setting up a one on one consultation with our Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist please email us at email@example.com, for many just eating real food, avoiding processed and packaged foods, and eating organic is a great start!
